Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast
Travel beyond Kenya’s familiar safari routes and discover the distinctive landscapes and wildlife of the north. This seven-day journey combines the rugged beauty of Samburu, the conservation areas of Ol Pejeta and the cool forest scenery of Aberdare.
Enjoy time in each destination rather than changing accommodation every night. Look for Samburu’s unique northern wildlife, learn about conservation at Ol Pejeta and experience the rich birdlife and forest environment of Aberdare. With planned rest breaks and flexible activities, this journey offers a rewarding safari without trying to do everything at once.
Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu — Journey into Northern Kenya
Morning: Departure from Nairobi
Meet your driver-guide at your agreed pick-up point and begin the journey north towards Samburu. Enjoy views of the changing countryside, with comfort stops along the way.
Midday: Lunch and arrival
Stop for lunch as arranged, then continue to your selected lodge or tented camp in the Samburu area. Check in and take time to settle into your room.
Afternoon: Relax and enjoy the surroundings
Keep the afternoon gentle after the road journey. Enjoy the lodge facilities, observe birds around the property or take in the northern landscape. If arrival time and reserve access permit, a short game drive can be arranged.
Accommodation: First night at a selected Samburu lodge or camp.
Meals: Lunch and dinner, according to the confirmed itinerary.
Day 2: Samburu — Discover the Special Wildlife of the North
Morning: Guided game drive
After breakfast, head into Samburu National Reserve for a wildlife drive. This region is known for species adapted to northern Kenya, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Beisa oryx. Sightings depend on animal movements and local conditions.
Your guide will explain the reserve’s ecosystem and help you appreciate the differences between northern and southern Kenyan wildlife habitats.
Midday: Lunch and rest
Return to your accommodation for lunch and a break during the warmest part of the day.
Afternoon: Optional second game drive
Choose a second game drive if you wish to spend more time searching for wildlife, or relax at the lodge and enjoy the surroundings. The afternoon can be adjusted to suit the group’s interests.
Return for dinner and your second night in Samburu.
Accommodation: Second night at the same Samburu lodge or camp.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the confirmed itinerary.
Day 3: Samburu to Ol Pejeta — A Scenic Journey to Conservation Country
Morning: Breakfast and departure
Enjoy breakfast, check out and travel towards the Ol Pejeta Conservancy area. The journey takes you through changing landscapes towards the central Kenyan highlands.
Midday: Lunch and check-in
Enjoy lunch on the way or after arrival, depending on the final arrangements. Check in at your selected accommodation and take a short break.
Afternoon: Relaxed introduction to Ol Pejeta
If time and conservancy access permit, enjoy an introductory game drive. Ol Pejeta is known for conservation work and opportunities to see wildlife such as rhinos, elephants, buffaloes and plains game.
If the journey takes longer than expected, spend the afternoon resting and begin exploring the conservancy the following day.
Accommodation: First night at a selected lodge or camp near Ol Pejeta.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the confirmed itinerary.
Day 4: Ol Pejeta — Wildlife and Conservation Experiences

Midday: Lunch and a restful break
Return to your accommodation for lunch and some downtime. Enjoy the quiet surroundings instead of spending the entire day on the move.
Afternoon: Flexible conservation experience
Depending on availability, access rules and the confirmed itinerary, you may choose another game drive or a conservation-related visit offered by the conservancy. Special experiences may require advance booking and separate fees.
Alternatively, enjoy a peaceful afternoon at the lodge.
Accommodation: Second night at the same Ol Pejeta-area accommodation.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the confirmed itinerary.
Day 5: Ol Pejeta to Aberdare — Into Kenya’s Green Highlands
Morning: Breakfast and departure
After breakfast, check out and travel towards Aberdare. The scenery changes from open conservation grasslands to cooler, greener highland landscapes.
Midday: Lunch and arrival
Enjoy lunch according to the accommodation arrangements, then check in at your selected Aberdare-area lodge. The exact property matters here: accommodation inside the national park, a forest lodge and a lodge outside the park have different access arrangements.
Afternoon: Settle in and enjoy the forest atmosphere
Keep the afternoon light. Depending on your accommodation, you may enjoy forest views, bird watching from designated areas or time to relax at the lodge. Any park activity will depend on access, timing and the selected property.
Accommodation: First night at a selected Aberdare-area lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the confirmed itinerary.
Day 6: Aberdare — Forest Scenery and Nature at a Gentle Pace
Morning: Nature and bird watching
After breakfast, enjoy a guided nature experience where available, or observe the forest environment and birdlife from permitted areas around your accommodation. Aberdare is known for its montane forest, waterfalls, streams and diverse habitats.
Wildlife sightings can be more difficult in dense forest than in open savannah, making patience an important part of the experience.
Midday: Lunch and rest
Return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxed break. Enjoy the cooler highland air and the natural surroundings.
Afternoon: Flexible exploration
Depending on your lodge location and park access, choose a short nature activity, a visit to an accessible viewpoint or more time to unwind. Avoid planning a lengthy excursion if it would require a rushed return.
Enjoy dinner and your second night in the Aberdare area.
Accommodation: Second night at the same Aberdare-area lodge.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to the confirmed itinerary.
Day 7: Aberdare to Nairobi — A Peaceful Return

Arrive at your agreed drop-off point. Timing depends on the accommodation location, road conditions and stops made along the way.
